This document is a general template written for an informational website. It is not legal advice. If you need a policy that satisfies a specific regulation or jurisdiction, please consult a qualified professional.
Solid Explorer is an informational resource published at solidexplorer.best. We write about Android file management concepts: dual-pane browsing, cloud storage integration, archive handling, permissions and device security. We do not sell software, process payments, or operate a checkout, and we keep the data we handle to the minimum required to publish and maintain the site.
1. Information We Collect
We collect very little, and most of it is technical rather than personal:
- Technical request data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device class, referring page and the URL requested. These are recorded by our hosting infrastructure in standard server logs.
- Usage and navigation data — which articles or feature pages are viewed, approximate session length, and general interaction patterns collected in aggregate.
- Information you send us voluntarily — if you email the address listed on our Contact page, we receive your address, your message and anything you choose to attach.
- Preference data — small local settings such as a dismissed cookie notice or a chosen display option, stored in your browser.
There are no account registrations, no forms and no file uploads on solidexplorer.best. We never ask you to connect a cloud storage account or grant access to files on your device.
2. How We Use It
- To deliver pages reliably and keep layouts readable across phones, tablets and desktops.
- To understand which guides and capability overviews are useful so we can improve or expand them.
- To detect and mitigate abuse, scraping, spam and attempted intrusion.
- To answer questions, corrections and documentation feedback sent to our support address.
- To maintain backups and diagnose technical faults.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, credit scoring or profiling, and we do not build advertising profiles about individual readers.
3. Legal Bases
Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases:
- Legitimate interests — operating a secure, functioning website, preventing abuse and understanding aggregate readership.
- Consent — for any non-essential cookies or analytics, where consent is required. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
- Compliance with legal obligations — where we must retain or disclose records under applicable law.
4. Cookies & Analytics
Solid Explorer uses a small number of cookies and similar storage keys to remember your notice preferences and, where enabled, to gather anonymised usage statistics. Analytics data is reviewed in aggregate; we are interested in which capability pages get read, not in who read them. A full breakdown is available in our Cookie Policy.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Limited data may be processed by service providers acting on our behalf:
- Hosting and content delivery providers that serve the pages of solidexplorer.best.
- Analytics providers, where such a service is active.
- Email providers that transmit and store messages sent to our support address.
We may also disclose information where required by law, court order or a lawful request from a public authority, or where necessary to protect our rights, users or infrastructure.
6. Data Retention
Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security review and diagnostics, typically a short rolling window. Aggregated analytics may be retained longer because it no longer identifies individuals. Email correspondence is kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference, then deleted.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask for correction or deletion, object to or restrict certain processing, request portability, and withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, write to us using the address on the Contact page. Because we hold so little identifying data, we may need additional detail to locate any records relating to you.
8. Children's Privacy
Solid Explorer is written for general and technical audiences and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Third-Party Links
Our articles reference external resources such as platform documentation, cloud storage providers, security advisories and application listings. Once you follow an outbound link you are subject to that site's own privacy practices, which we neither control nor endorse. We recommend reviewing the policy of any destination before sharing information with it.
10. Changes
We may revise this policy as the site evolves or as legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted where practical. Continued use of solidexplorer.best after an update means you accept the current version.
11. Contact
Questions about this policy or about how Solid Explorer handles data can be sent to support@solidexplorer.best. See our Contact page for response expectations.
